I read that they are really pushing for a station *in* Shizuoka (i.e. within that 14.5 kilometres of track that is within Shizuoka) in order to try to make the Shizuoka Airport a bigger player in Tokyo area travel. The speed of the train means that Shizuoka Airport would then be no farther from Tokyo in terms of time than Narita. The train company says there are enough stations nearby ...
